Last Tuesday, I tweaked my right knee (ACL/MCL repair '89) while doing a 32kg jerk set. Later that night, the knee became swollen and mildly painful. I took off the rest of the week in preparation for the Toledo comp. Although not completely 100% on Saturday, I don't think my knee interfered with my performance. However, by the time I completed my 2 hour drive home, my right knee was stiffening up. Today, it was a bit better, but I have decided to lay off the jerks for a while as I think this is what is aggravating the knee. The good news is.......this will allow me to focus on my snatches even more!!!
Warm Up
Snatch(28kg) L18/18/18 ----> R 18/18/18
Swing(40kg) 30/30 x 2 sets
Swing(32kg) 40/40 x 1 set
Was aiming for 7 minutes of snatch, but only made 6. Grip fatigue was the main issue.
The swings were good, but quite difficult on the grip. I felt like Popeye after the swings, with bulging forearms. I think these can only help me....

Hey, Matt. Sorry to hear your knee is still bothering you. I've been lucky for a while - mine is holding up at the moment.
Nice job in Toldeo. You continue to make progress. When do you plan to compete again?
David,
Thanks for checking in. I am not sure when I will compete again. I have to work the weekend of the Arnold. I would consider trying to make it to the AKC booth to attempt CMS ranking if my snatches come together over the next month. Otherwise, my next comp will likely be in Toledo. Looks like they will try to put on another comp sometime in May. You???
When I saw Scott Shetler in December he was still planning on holding his summer comp this year. My plan -at the moment -is to try for CMS at Scott's summer comp, and, if I make CMS, try for MS at his December comp.
I've been working on technique issues a good bit lately. I've done a lot of remedial jerk work. I do not enjoy jerks the way I do long cycle. With LC I can hit a rhythm, an almost trance-like state. With jerks its suffering.
