The Injury Parade Continues

During last Tuesday's workout, I noticed some pain in my left shoulder during the drop in my jerk sets. I have had this happen before, but by later that night I knew this was more serious than before. I ended up taking off the remainder of last week and my shoulder is feeling better today, but still not back to 100%. The good news is that it doesn't seem to bother me on snatches.....as I found out today:

Warm Up
Snatch(2x28kg) 8 minutes @ L16/16/16/13 ----> R16/16/16/13
Swing(32kg) 45/45 x 1
Swing(32kg) 30/30 x 1
BSS(2x16) 10/10 x 2

Snatches felt pretty good today, but my hands were in the danger zone so I cut each arm 3 reps short. I will get them next time. Plan is to keep working the snatches until my shoulder feels good enough to start jerking again. Hopefully this will be by the end of this week or early next week. Will see what happens....

Any idea what the injury was? Every once in a while my supraspinatus bothers me.

John no idea. There was no specific instant, no pop, etc. I just noticed that I was having some discomfort during the descent/drop of the bells during my jerks. The pain actually seems to be at the insertion of the pectoralis to the clavicle, but I was also a bit sore in the posterior deltoid region the next day.

Still nice progress Matt. How many snatches/arm do you need?

Alex I am in the 90kg weight class and will need 70/70 with the 28kg to make CMS.

Matt,sound like there could be lesion in your 2 costa.It could give you fiilings that you told!
It distroe movement in your clavicula-humerus-scapula,because scapula couldnt glide properly(tensio in fascia).

Jake,
It is funny that you mention this. I actually feel much better today after working out yesterday. I will try rolling around the scapular region with a tennis ball tonight to see if it gives me more relief.

sorry to hear this man, but it's what happens when one trains seriously, intensely, and at the edge of their abiities. There is always a price to be paid for greatness, or the attempt to be great.
Unfortunately, we usually don't know where the edge is until we step off it.
Lots of " I don't know where THAT came from" injuries are the result of accumulated microtrauma that we aren't even aware of.
